The Carlyle Sherstad 5K/10K
The 14th annual Carlyle Sherstad 5K/10K Run/Walk was held on Saturday, June 1, 2019 during Grantsburg's Big Gust Days.
The Carlyle Sherstad 5K/10K is named after a great promoter of running in Grantsburg. Carlyle Sherstad was the founder and organizer of the 16.2 mile Grantsburg race called the Syttende Mai. That race was an annual event for many years, drew hundreds of runners from all over the Midwest, and is a significant part of Grantsburg's history.
Burnett Medical Center organizes The Carlyle Sherstad 5K/10K and donates all profits. The recipient this year is the Humane Society of Burnett County
Trophies were awarded to the overall top male and female winners in both the 5K and 10K events. In addition to these awards, medals were awarded to the first three male and female finishers in each age category: Pre-teen, 13-16, 17-19, 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's, 70+. Please see race results for 2019 trophy and medal recipients
In addition to the 5K/10K run/walk, we held the 11th annual Kiddie Carlyle. This 100-yard dash is for children ages 7 and younger. Medals were awarded to all finishers.
