HIM Manager

SHIFT & HOURS:
1.0 FTE, Days, Monday-Friday

 

DUTIES:
Manages operational activities related to HIM including supervision of staff, record analysis, coding, abstracting, record completeness, retrieval/release and confidentiality and security of records.  Makes sure training in the Health Information Department is up to date and plans the future direction as well as maintains policies and procedures.  Assists the Compliance Officer with compliance and privacy training and auditing.  Supervises medical staff credentialing.


QUALIFICATIONS:

One year minimum experience required in a Health Information Management department, including experience with medical record system keeping.  One year minimum experience required coding ICD-10 in an acute care setting.  Knowledge of CPT and professional coding.  Knowledge of privacy regulations preferred.  Current RHIA, RHIT, CPC, or CCS credential required.  Previous supervisory experience preferred.  Good verbal and written communication skills, and aptitude of work with patients and their representatives under stressful situations.  Ability to work efficiently with computers.
