Burnett Medical Center Celebrates 90th Anniversary and National Rural Health Day

Back in 1930, the first hospital in Grantsburg opened on November 19th. The cost was $25,700. Forty-seven residents purchased initial shares in the corporation. Two physicians and one surgeon were on the medical staff. Fast-forward to today and Burnett Medical Center is not just a hospital but also a long-term care facility and family practice clinic. The whole facility has a wide variety of specialty physicians.

Last Thursday, Burnett Medical Center had a big day celebrating their 90th anniversary and National Rural Health Day. Staff were able to safely celebrate with patients by handing out pre-packaged gift bags and having them share ‘why they are thankful for their rural provider’. National Rural Health Day was an opportunity to celebrate the “Power of Rural”, bringing to light the unique healthcare challenges that rural citizens face and showcasing the efforts of rural healthcare.

Burnett Medical Center has come a long way since 1930 but their commitment to provide compassionate, comprehensive, community healthcare to their patients and community has stayed the same.
